The next generation of the discussion forum is now up and running. Our Discussion Forum and the Classifieds are now referred to as Groups. You can view either group, without being a member of the group, but to Post, you must Join the group.

TIP #1: If you see the "Join" button, just click that to join the group. There are no questions to answer, just a single click. If you do not see the Join button, then you are already a member of the group. We were able to add some club members to the Groups, but that process was bumpy.

TIP #2: When on one of Group pages, the typical menu, along the top, is not displayed. In the upper left corner, you should see something like: "Home > Groups > General Discussion". Just click "Home" and you will return to the CCCC Home page, with our norma…

1982 Commander - losing power at 2k RPM

It's been some time since I've posted here; prior to this season, I did my best to replace what I could on my engines in hopes it would only improve performance; I had the carbs rebuilt, cap, rotors, wires, impellers, new gaskets in sea strainers ect; at the end of last season, right before pulling out; I would go to accelerate the starboard engine and it would bog down at 1,800 to 2k rpm; I thought it might be the fuel pump; replaced it with what I think was the right one per the marine parts store, proper flange and 454 specific; DID NOT resolve the issue and eventually had to pull boat for season; had carbs rebuild over winter thinking that could be issue and went ahead and did the caps, rotor, plugs and wires; also replaced the choke springs.

Fast forward; took boat out for first time the…

Starboard engine should be reverse rotation… i struggled with my 350Q engines( flywheel forward) untill i pulled the spark plugs and turned the engine slowly by hand to find TDC . I also removed the valve cover on the #1 cylinder side to confirm I was not out 180°. Problem solved. I had a timing light with an advance dial on the back of it that allowed me to confirm 10° before TDC . This also allowed me to confirm my advance was working properly. My electronic distributor has an internal elongated slot in the base plate that sets the advance range. Last run out I was seeing 19kts at 2800 rpm. Once I have 250 hrs on these engines I will post my WOT speed. I think she will hit the published 30 kts at 3900. 1968 31ft salon hull #1

Lancer 23 prop specs

I have a 1976 Lancer 23 with the original Chris Craft small block Chevy 350. There was a 15 x 15 rh prop when I bought the boat. A few years ago I replaced it with a different prop specs someone on thiis forum recommended. The current prop feels like it is lugging at 4000 to 4400 rpms at wot and never reaches a gps top speed of 25 knots. What should I be seeing for a top speed with this rig?

Assuming an inboard (Tunnel Drive/Shal-O-Drive), Chris Craft originally specified a 15x16 Super Cup. I think you should be well into the 30's for top speed. Have you considered the transmission could be 'slipping'?

measurements needed

hello everyone. Happy 4th!! I purchased a "85" commander 268. I purchased the correct rated trailer however I'm not convinced the rollers are going to clear the running gear. anyone have a similiar vessel on the hard who could take some measurements for me?....I dont want to convert to bunk unless necessary. thanks so much.

Hi William,

Congrats on your purchase!

Because your boat has twin inboard engines , it requires a notch back style trailer . Basically a notch back trailers' outboard bunks extend all the way to the transom while its inboard bunks generally terminate fwd. Of the prop shafts.

Heres a picture of a notch back trailer

This particular trailer was built for a single inboard chris craft however it clearly illustrates a notch back.

You can certainly have your trailer's frame modified to acomidate inboard engines. However roller trailers tend to cause more harm then good.

I realize you've already purchased your roller trailer but it might be faster and less expensive to sell it and get a notch back bunk trailer that works for your 268.

Hope this helps.
