Advice for spring prep; new owners

Hello all; we are new owners of a 1966 Commander and this will be our first time prepping the boat for launch. We had an informal survey done and know the mechanical things that are must-does but I still have a million questions, starting with paint and just general exterior prep? I have searched the forum discussions as well as the archives but still feeling a little unsure how to approach it and anxious to avoid doing something I'll regret later as it relates to hull paint.

It may be hard to see from these pics but there are definitely areas where the paint is flaking off the hull and we're wondering if we need to strip and repaint the entire thing or just sand and hit the spots where its coming off? Is there a rule of thumb in regard to how frequently the entire hull should be stripped and redone?

In regard to the decks, what does everyone do for yearly maintenance? I think ours are in decent shape but I want to be sure we keep them that way. My husband thinks we can power wash for this year but I would love to hear from others.

Thanks for any input

We need to replace the stainless steel engine box handles for our 1977 Chris Craft Tournament 30. They're flush inset. Thanks Mike K
