I found a starter for my Crusader 5.7 at (local to me) Auto Electric Service in Norfolk VA. Although it doesn’t say ‘coast guard approved’ on the starter itself, they assured me it is. It’s also a much smaller body but has gearing to spin the flywheel as necessary.

I would fill them, or lay down a layer of epoxy to cover the whole area. On another subject: inside the flybridge helm housing, around the base, is wood about 1x1 presumably attached to the housing and the ‘floor’. This wood is all rotten. I’m wondering what to replace it with.

I can’t imagine that CC would have built a 60 Commander with a single engine. That would have made handling nearly impossible. One engine driving two shafts? Even less likely than a single engine / single screw.

You can use SJ in an engine designed for SE, but not vice versa. SAE 30 might be hard to find, but 10W40 should be available. As for the zinc, if your 454s have flat tappet cams, get oil that has it or use an additive.

You say “we”. Personally, I think the 38 is too small for a liveaboard couple. I’m single and lived on my 38 for three months last year and found it too cramped. Especially the VBerth. Mine is a sedan model with a large open salon, so I put a sleeper sofa in. It’s good but now you’re sleeping in the open. Also, the fridge is tiny. I plan on swapping for a 41 or 410 at some point.

The current props are 13x12 with 1:1 gears, and the boat reaches 24 knots at 4500 rpm WOT. The Crusader manual says WOT should be 5000 rpm.

Boat stands on movable dollies? Looks dangerous to me. Nice boat though.

You have to move a lot of air for a heat pump to work, therefore the space requirements doesn’t really work for boats. That’s why boats systems use water for the heat transfer.
