1968 350 Q timing marks
So I have tracked down the timing marks on my 350Q (originally 327 from the factory). I had a “startup” disk made of 1/4” aluminum that bolted to the flywheel where the water pump pully mounts. (4- 5/16” bolts) with a square hole in the center for a 1/2” drive. Slowly turning the engine I found the famous dimple just before a small 1/8” hole near the outside edge if the flywheel (DYC?)and another dimple the same distance from the hole after. Having removed all the spark plugs and using a small pointed prob I confirmed DTC with the valve cover removed and confirmed both valves closed, so as to not be 180° out. My timing light has a dial to confirm timing settings. My thinking is the flywheel is generic for left hand and right hand rotation. I will follow up to report my findings. Last thing is to see if the Mallory advance is set properly. The service bullitin that was posted should help.Comments welcomed.
