410 Commander navigation and anchor light issue
Question: Is it possible to have both the navigation lights (bow lights and stern light) and anchor light on at the same time? (I know you normally wouldn't have both on but read the following to gain more understanding).
I have a 1977 Commander that did not come with a working mast light. There were two wires running through the deck up the mast (which were not hooked up to anything). I do know the two wires are controlled by the anchor light switch on the dash panel (there are separate anchor and navagation light switches on my 1977 model year boat). It is unclear to me whether the boat originally had two or three wires coming through the deck and running up the mast. I do not have the original light for the top of the mast. I understand it may have been a combination anchor and steaming light (in which case there probably should be at least 3 wires coming through the deck and running up the mast).
Because I don't yet have the original light fixture, I fabricated a base for the top of the mast so I could mount a LED anchor light which with could also be used as a steaming light (when I flip up a blocking baffel that turns the anchor light into a steaming light).
The problem I've run in to is that when I switch on the anchor light (which turns on successfully), proceeding to turn on the navation lights after that will turn off the anchor light.
It you happen to have a Commander with separate Anchor light and Navigation switches, it is possible to have both navigation and anchor lights at the same time?
I my use scenerio, I want the mast light to be on for (in steaming configuration) while being able to have the navigation lights on at the same time (bow and stern lights). I'll use the appropriate navigation lights more than I will have use for the anchor light
Any help you can provide will be appreciated!

Yes, three wires are required, one + to the steaming bulb, one + to the 360° anchor bulb (same circuit powers the stern light), and a common ground. My 1972 35 Commander Salon has separate switches. My 1973 Lancer 23 has separate switches, as well, with two bulbs on top and one in the stern.
