Remote Oil Pressure Adapter

  • I'm getting close to getting my 1973 36' Chris-Craft Tournament Fisherman rebuilt port engine running, but today I took apart the remote oil filter adapter while installing new oil lines, and now thinking about replacing it. Engine is 1973 GM 454 Marine Power, see pic of original adaptor and here is the link to the one I've found, but I have a few questions. The original has an oil pressure valve inside... the new one doesn't mention that?

  • The old one has a pretty big "port" inside the side (the half moon shape) appears to be larger than the new one in the pictures. in fact it appears someone might have MADE the port bigger on the old one.

  • But I've found a chip on the side of the lip of the old one (second to last photo) and I really feel like I should replace it, if you have a better idea of where to find this, I'm open to ideas.

If i can't find a new adapter, i have two choices, i can try to reinstall this one with new gasket and o ring and see if it keeps working for another 50 years, or i could bypass the entire remote system alltogether and just put the oil filter adapter back on the engine and screw the oil filter directly to the engine just so i can actually use the boat....
