1969 Chris Craft Commander 31'

Ahoy Fellow Commanders,

Recently I purchased a 1969 Chris Craft Command 31' Express Model with factory installed hardtop. I need some information about this boat, anything you can share is greatly appreciated.

Specifically, I need to replace the glass on the bridge side window. The existing sliding glass panel does not cover the entire window and is cut on an angle. I believe the glass must be diagonal and fixed. Unfortunately, I don't know what kind of glass to order nor size. Any information?

Moving on I want to replace the existing painted panels in the cockpit with mahogany panels. In 1969 was Chris Craft still using Philippine or African mahogany? And, does anyone know what stain or varnish I should use. The existing panels in the cabin are light in color not the dark mahogany found in many older Chris Craft boats.

And, does anyone have a 31' or Commander with Perkins 6-354s? I discovered that is was an option for the boat and I happen to have two with gear boxes in my garage. Would you do the conversion?

Thank you,

Mike

Hi Richard,

Yes making a template is no problem but I was looking for information about the glass used. I know it's a 1/4" plated glass but any information manufacturer, tint? Trust me there are several clear plated glass sources and all have a different tint.
