Change screens in cabin windows in 35' Commander

Hey Commanders,

I have a 1968 35' Commander. The screens in the cabin windows are shot. I went to remove them for re-screening. After removing all the trim, I found the screens (and windows) were in a track about 2-3" below the cabin wall. Meaning that to have access to remove them I would be digging out bungs and removing the teak interior from the boat - which I'm not going to do. How are people re-screening or replacing the cabin windows? I'd like to believe I'm missing something. Thanks,

Derrick

All,

Can confirm that the trim at the top as Chris described does some off easily. BUT, finding replacement window channel is much harder! Ours was/is brittle and broken in some places. No one has this exact channel width that accomodates two pieces of glass and the screen.

We are considering a custom extrusion if we can find a company that will make enough for a small job.
