On my 31 all I had to do was remove one of the exhaust cross over pipes to get the old round 55 gallon Galvanized tanks out. I opted to replace them with 92 gallon Aluminum tanks. They are rectangular in shape with a sloping side (trapezoidal) following the angle of the Hull. While I was at it I pulled out the original cast iron mufflers and connecting pipes that were in pretty bad shape. I replace them with straight Fiberglass pipes with no mufflers. I still get the unique Blub, Blug, Blug Chris Craft exhaust sound and I really can't tell the noise level difference. I'm sure you could measure it with a sound level meter but what's a few extra dB among friends?
