Spark plug wires 454
1973 36 TF Marine power 454- How important is it that the spark plug wires are labeled marine, or marine, certified, or ignition protected? I’ve never even thought about this in the past, but I just wanted to ask the group if it mattered? Here are some examples of wires available at my auto parts store would any of these work?
At AutoZone, the Sierra Marine 18-8844-1 fits 454 engines but doesn’t clearly state SAE J1171 ignition protection. Duralast wires are automotive-grade and not

marine-rated. At Advance Auto, the PerTronix 808450 set is a better option—listed for Chevy marine V8s and likely ignition-protected.

There is no standard for "ignition protected" like with alternators starters or carbs. Id suggest a good quality 8mm marine wire set from Sierra will do what you need. Hope this helps you. (West marine usually has them)
