327/350 motor mounts

Does anyone recognise this motor mount in my 1968 31 salon? Are the twosquare head bolts lags that hold the mount to the stringer?? I need to move the engines foward 2” to make my packing glands servicable in the water without pulling the shafts.

Like Warren mentioned, be super careful not to crack the aluminum mounts.

In the game of engine alignment Moving an engine 2" might as well be like moving it 30 miles.

In order to move the engines foward you would also need to move significantly upward. You'd also need to replace both prop shafts with longer ones.

While I totally understand your struggles with minimal space between the packing glands and couplers, the reality is that because once your packing is replaced , unless it gets overheated or you run aground and damnage the shafts, you'll not need to replace it again for about another decade . Just simply tighten them from time to time . Therefore, If I were you, Id leave my original engine's location unchanged from the factory location

My two cents.
