1968 Commander 31 Salon
I would like to lnow from those with this model Commander what diesel engines your running and how they sit on the water. Stern down, level?? My boat has a pair of fresh 350Q engines. They are newly rebuilt and the boat runs well with the original specified props. The boat is like new factory condition and I feel it worth while to invest in repowering with something that would be more fuel efficent, quiter, and possibly better performance. The boat is hull #1 out of the Chattanoga plant so there is a little less room fore and aft in the engine room then later production boats. Last weekend we were running 17 kts at 3400 rpm , but really loud to my ear.

John, the props are 4 blade 18x19.
On a run yesterday, at 3000 rpm, she did 23 kts and 19 gph fuel burn.The load was 70%. The motors are about 3600 rpm at WOT. My fuel tank is 230 gal and it’s almost full at the moment. Guessing the boat is at about 14000#.
I installed all the new Yanmar gauges and don’t know how it works to keep the classic helm setup. The 4LV’s are pretty great motors.
