I was helping a friend go boat shopping this week and I ran across this on Yachtworld. Apparently she is in need of some serious TLC. A number of systems not operating. Located Southern California. Asking $250,000. And yes, this is the 60 Commander Entertainer Jackie Gleason once owned. I know only 9 were ever built. 4 were sunk or otherwise destroyed. The other 60s I was aware of up until a couple of years ago are no longer 'viable' to be seaworthy again. This could be a rare opportunity for a Commander lover with deep pockets and a sense of history.
Thanks to Whitney and Charlene for the latest update! The 60 Commander is a fascinating topic because of its rarity. I think the key to the one for sale is that it still appears very 'restorable'. The listing says she is still in day charter service in Southern California.
One could probably turn this into a real showstopper! Engine Rebuilds, Modern Generators, New Appliances, Modern electronics, New Soft goods... And whatever else she needs, the bill could easily top $1Mil. Not for the faint of heart!
