31 Commander Salon with 350Q engines
My Mallory optical distributor took a dump so I replaced the internal module with one of the two new spares I had on the boat. No go. So I put the Sierra magnetic the previous owner had put on it just prior to me purchasing it. Boat started and I will reset the base timing. I asked Sierra the limits of the centrifugal advance and how to set it. Here is their response… same thing they told me 6 months ago! They are peddler's of Chinese stuff with no direct knowldge of what they sell, and not willing to ask the question.

Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing the mechanical limits of any given advance mechanism on a distributor.
