1968 31 Commander Salon 350Q
My replacement starter is a little different than my Delco Remy. There is an S terminal and an R terminal and the positive post. I don’t think there was a wire to the R terminal on the Delco. (Blue paint on it) What is the R terminal used for?

Ok I have a tan wire and a black wire. I zip tied them together when I took them off but it is confusing. I get 12v on the tan wire when the key is turned to start. I get an ohm reading to ground on the. Black wire but it disapears in a bundle of wires. I will check my starboard engine to see if I can find a reasonable answer!
