30 hours to Take Transmission Out
Hi I have a 1988 Chris Craft Amerosport, the mechanic gave me 2 possible reasons for my V drive transmission problem, the clutchpack has welded itself up...
or the Internal valve body is leaking. One guy told me they could possibly get the transmission out without pulling the motor, the other guy said the motor has to be pulled. Is 30 hours to get the transmission out a normal process? I've attached the estimate, can someone take a look if this is normal or over priced? This is my first Chris Craft Boat.

I have a similar Chris, 336 Commander. I backed off the beach and hit a sandbar. V-drive with velvet drive transmission. Marina pulled the boat to their shop and pulled transmission without pulling the motor. Cost me $8,500 but that was many years ago. Good Luck.
