30 hours to Take Transmission Out
Hi I have a 1988 Chris Craft Amerosport, the mechanic gave me 2 possible reasons for my V drive transmission problem, the clutchpack has welded itself up...
or the Internal valve body is leaking. One guy told me they could possibly get the transmission out without pulling the motor, the other guy said the motor has to be pulled. Is 30 hours to get the transmission out a normal process? I've attached the estimate, can someone take a look if this is normal or over priced? This is my first Chris Craft Boat.

Looking at your estimate R&R means remove AND re Install. So 30 hrs both ways Is probably not out of the realm. You have to consider alignment, once installed and other issues surrounding the task. They are also probably counting the number of people needed to do the R&R. (2 min In the bilge to guide and one outside on the lift). I'm not saying you couldn't get It done cheaper, but rather saying this Isn't "off the charts high". Lee
