Okay... I'm looking for some ideas...
All of our boats (I'm talking about the '64-'72 varieties at a minimum) have side windows that when closed, overlap. this usually leaves anywhere from 3/4" to 2" of overlapped glass that has a very small (what, 1/16" or 1/8") gap. So... two things for everyone out there...
How do you clean in there so ensure the overlapping glass is nice and clean?
Does anyone us anything (and what) to close that gap and prevent bugs from coming in? At night we tend to drop our curtains and turn the lights down but if the light is not low enough, eventually we get some flying friends that want to join in our fun... making it not so fun.
Thanks in advance for your ideas/remedies!

"What If..."

Overlapping glass - I had a thin plastic spatula and blue shop towel. Wet piece of shop towel with glass cleaner, wrap around spatula, slide between the 2 glass pieces, move up and down until glass is clean. A very thin sponge or craft foam sheet might work too.
Chris, this affixed to the outside pane will prevent bugs from coming in.

Thanks Warren... I checked it out... seems like it would work, but they won't ship... only pick up at the warehouse in Connecticut. I'll do some hunting to see if I can find it somewhere else that will ship.
If you find someone that’ll ship, please post. Also interested
Hello All - IMPORTANT UPDATE ON TRIM...
So, I did some looking after finding out that the trim mentioned by Warran couldn't be shipped from Defneder. I looked around and found out (I believe) that StanPro no longer exists... Prices vary on other sites from what Defender has it out there for ($57) to over $124 at Fisheries Supply.
I found one more place that had it out there for $2x.xx a stick, but I' really not sure about it. Based on the price I ordered, but I did it through PayPal, and with my AMEX so that I've got recourse if it turns out to be a sham. If it's not a sham, I'll provide details here on that vendor.
On the glass overlap front... Today we are at the boat, and Julie gives a big thanks to Char for the spatula idea. Worked like a charm! Now all I need to to do is actually recieve the window edge trim, and redo the screens on our windows, and my Commander window bliss will be complete!

Chris - how about some of these trim pieces? https://www.steelerubber.com/marine
Chris,
StanPro was part of CooperStandard. It appears CooperStandard has killed the StanPro brand and integrated the product line under the CooperStandard umbrella.

My 1973 47 already has this trim on the outside window pane edges for the salon and helm side windows. I'm not sure if it was factory or added after.

maybe try googling glass channel or sliding window channel to see if there are options
