I have a 1988 Chris-Craft 422 Commander tournament edition. When it's not raining the hall stays bone dry if it rains hard a lot of water does come in. I know it's not coming in from any of the railing and the headliners are all original and are all perfect so there's no water coming in from there I know it's coming in from the cockpit. I high pressured all the holes that I can find and yet it still comes in when it rains hard.
Any suggestions or help or tips is most appreciated.
Thanks Kent
At one point in my career I did inspections for an agricultural equipment manufacturer. We had to water test the windows in all the cabs produced to ensure they were water tight. We would use pressure booths to simulate hard storms and pressure washing. When leaks were found, often the leaks that would appear in those tests wouldn’t be repeatable in the pressurized simulations. We would take the leakers over to another area with a garden hose. They would show up most frequently with a hose without a sprayer just flooding the suspected areas and would be easier to track the intrusion source with targeted flooding. I would give that a shot.
Thanks for I will give it a try and I appreciate your time
Before you rule out deck hardware, windows, fittings , wood trim you need to figure out if infact water enters in any of those places and just doesn't drip on your headliner but perhaps follows along inner cabin top or deck Bypassing the headliner.
Chasing leaks can be a real PIA .
If you still can't figure out where it's coming from then you can always go and rebed all of your hardware and trim as its really something that should get done anyway once in a while.
We just found one that noone else in our area could seem to find. Simply, we set up a yard sprinkler and let it go do it's thing sweeping back and forth.. About 40 mins in we found the leak and it was a deck hatch that had been installed from the factory using "foam tape" instead of caulk and had aged out. Hope this will help you find it. Sprinklers are great tools.
Thanks for your suggestions and I appreciate you taking the time for your input
