Wow, amazing how much wider the 8V71Ns are than the Cummins or Caterpillar V8s. Those old naturally aspirated Detroit 71s seem to run forever, such a great design. I also like the sound of Detroits at idle. I fell in love with that sound as a teen when a late '80s Hatteras 70MY was a transient at South Bay Cove. I think it had 12V71TAs. When the captain fired her up at the dock it sounded like a fleet of GMC "fish bowl" city buses were in the engine room.
This is a first class well maintained engine room. Absolutely stunning! I would just need my Kobalt foam knee pad to work in there. But the diamond plate is an elegant touch!! Kudos!

I have never seen a 47 with 8-71's. What year is it? It must get up and go

Very cool. Must have been a special order. Really cool and a huge improvement over the normal 8-53's
