Coper bronze bottom paint - 38' Commander
I'm getting ready to repaint the bottom of my 38' Commander and have a few questions for those who have done this before.
How much paint should I order?
How many quarts of Sandusky Copper Bronze bottom paint does it typically take for a 38' Commander? At about $165 per quart, I'd rather not overbuy if I can avoid it.
Surface preparation and finish.
While sanding, I've uncovered what appears to be the original copper bronze bottom paint in several areas. Do I sand this off as well or stop there and epoxy prime, then topcoat with the copper bronze?
Upper boot stripe paint.
I'm also planning to repaint the upper navy boot stripe. Does Sandusky offer a dark navy that closely matches the original Chris-Craft color? Since I'm already ordering the Copper Bronze from Sandusky, I'd prefer to get the stripe paint from them as well if the color is a good match.
I'd appreciate any advice or lessons learned from those who've tackled this project.
Thanks in advance!
Steve

Regarding the process of painting.
If your planning on epoxy barrier coating , you must first remove ALL existing paintvdownnto bare gel cot .
Applying barrier over top of old bottom paint is a useless endeavor.
