Brief history: Tom purchased this beautiful boat back in
1978 from a local dealer & piloted it home to his Long
Island canal home. He is a former TWA ground maintenance
supervisor who retired from TWA. His excellent and
disciplined mechanical skills have enable Tom to keep this
boat in excellent running condition over the years. He
replaced the original 327 single engine with an upgrade 350
GM engine and added a fresh water cooling system. The engine
currently has only 500 hrs. of run time.
The "Mary C" has an open cockpit with a soft top (no flying
bridge), hull has never been damaged or sunk, interior needs
new upholstery and general minor restoration & sleeps 4.
Stern fantail has a center opening in railing which makes
this boat perfect for sport scuba diving.
Tom needs to sell this boat immediately as he finally
realized his health no longer allows him to take the boat
out or be stable enough to ride as a passenger. It is
currently still in the water of his canal, docked next to
his home. Earth around his home needs to be filled in before
supporting weight of boat & someone needs to take this boat
quickly before first winter freeze causes the canal to
freeze over, trapping and possibly damaging the hull.
It is our wish that someone who understands the classic
value & collector significance of this boat can be able to
purchase it from Tom and help him with mounting medical
bills & costs of medications. We are all saddened to part
with the Mary C but no one in the family, East and West
Coast, is in a position to save her. Most of the family has
grown up with the boat & is heart broken to see her go. We
would love to know she would be given a loving new home.
Please call Tom with info of anyone you may know who would
like this classic Commander. (516) 826-4139 or cell: (949)
