I've had my 31' Commander "Knife Island" for 10 years now and grow more fond of her with every season. This is a great old boat that does many things well and is configured nicely for single handed for docking. Previous owner enlarged the rudders by 30% which makes for quick response to the helm at slow speeds. Very nice ride in even heavy seas when cruising in the trough. The twin 327 V8 throaty rumble is "just right" and she is a hit wherever we go. (Home is on Lake Superior's North Shore) Classic lines and pretty to look at. She's the kind of boat you want to grow old with. "There's a woman in every port...but a good boat comes along once in a lifetime." anon

The 31' Express is a fast, nimble yet seaworthy cruiser. It is fine for 2 people for cruising, up to 6 Adults for day trips. The styling is classic and we get lots of compliments. The engine room is a little tight for working, but otherwise all systems are easy to access. Compared to new boat prices (and styling) the 31' Commander is a real value and a timeless classic!

Purchased 1972 FXA31-5061H from Oliver Bennett Sept 2006. Flybridge removed and boat packed
for trucking from Hartwell Lake, GA by Lee Dahlen and Associates to Old Hickory Lake, Gallatin, TN.
My son Mark and I unpacked and installed flybridge. The 31 commander is the perfect boat for my needs.
Fits in my boat dock perfectly and is easy to handle. Mr. Bennett maintained Boogie Woogie very well.
Boogie Woogie is now named ELSIE MARIE.
