Chris Craft Owners Group to Convene in Algonac, Michigan for  8th Annual
Rendezvous

Algonac, MI - Chris Craft Commander Club, Inc. - Owners and enthusiasts of the vintage Chris Craft Commander line of fiberglass cruisers are set to meet August 3 - 5 for its annual rally. This year's event will be held at Algonac Harbour Club, site of the original home of Chris Craft, in Algonac, Michigan.

A record turnout is expected with almost three dozen examples of these fine vintage cruisers onsite to appreciate and enjoy.  Over 150 members and friends are planning to attend.  For more information about the rendezvous and the Commander Club, the web site is www.commanderclub.com.

The Commander Club is a not for profit club created to inform, enrich and enlighten owners of the fine fiberglass classic motor vessels built by Chris Craft from 1964 – 1972.  The CCCC is a unique club that started out as a pure online discussion forum and e-mail list in February, 2000. Today, the club sports more than 900 members worldwide.

Over the years the CCCC extended it's activities to real-life gatherings once a year, several local meets, printed newsletters, merchandize and last but not least the invaluable Super Disk full of every aspect of owning and maintaining a Commander.  Naturally most members are from United States but there are also members from Australia, Sweden, Italy, France and Great Britain.

The club is fortunate to have lots of knowledgeable members. Most are hobby enthusiasts who learned by doing, but we also have members who are in the boating trade. Some even worked for Chris Craft during the heyday of the Commanders.

About the Chris Craft Commander

In 1964, amidst much secrecy, Chris Craft Corporation unveiled its first entry into the fiberglass cruiser market at the New York Boat Show with the 38' Express. The boat was heralded as a design marvel from the drawing tables of Fred Hudson and "Mac" MacKerer. Dick Avery led the design teamat Chris Craft that produced other Commanders ranging in size from the
weekender 27' to the palatial 60'. These boats are still plentiful today, and much sought after for their fine workmanship, seaworthiness and accommodations. They continue to increase in value as the awareness of their construction and durability becomes more well-known.

About the Club

The Chris Craft Commander Club got its start in 1999 as a written registry of less than 30 Commanders and their owners. The club quickly took its mission to the world wide web where it saw an explosive increase in membership which now totals well over 700 members worldwide. The club's current governing board recently incorporated the group, adopted a set of bylaws and revamped its logo and website. More information on the organization can be found at www.commanderclub.com
