When did the Chris Craft
Commander Club officially begin?
The Club officially began as a
registry for owners of the 38-foot Commander. Todd
Heinrich wanted to try and track down as many of the
38' owners as he could, and began the painstaking
process of contacting owners, leaving cards on the
windshields of Commanders, etc. Todd joined the
Chris Craft Antique Boat Club, and began spreading
the word to all Chris Craft owners of his efforts,
catching the eyes and ears of owners Curt Radford,
Robert Cutchins and Paul Pletcher. These three
gentleman began to see a future club in not only the
38-foot owners, but in ALL fiberglass Commander
owners. After some discussion, the Commander Club
was born in November of 1999.
Are there any dues?
No! At the present time, there
are no dues. If you choose to participate in any of
the real life gatherings arranged by the CCCC, there
is usually a fee charged to cover for meals, meeting
rooms etc.
How is the Club financed?
The CCCC operates largely thanks
to volontary unpaid work by the executive committee
and other members as well. We do sell promotional
items in our dock shop and also the wildely popular
Super Disk. The proceeds are used solely to finance
direct costs for websites, mailings etc. Although
the CCCC is incorporated the objective is to not
make a profit!
Who make up the "Executive
Committee" of the Club?

Club?

in the Club according to internet records, but the
Registry maintained by Executive Committee member
Lawrence Neisler includes members who are not
currently online.

Is
there any type of internet presence, other than this
web site?
Yes indeed. The CCCC use a
service called
YahooGroups to ask questions and to exchange
information. Every day dozens of new messages are
posted and hundreds of members regularly read those
postings. You can post and read the messages
at YahooGroups or use your e-mail service.
Also, many members operate
personal websites dedicated to their specific boat.
See the Models section or the Links section for more
details.
What other forms of information
are available?
Curt Radford has been published
in several different magazines, writing about his
Commander "Cabin Fever", along with other articles
of interest to all Chris Craft owners. These items
are available for your reading pleasure on the
Commander Club website in our Archve section. A
printed publication is available to all registered
members.
Styled in Fiberglass is distributed 1-2
issues per year.
Is the Club affiliated with the
Chris Craft Antique Boat Club?
Many members of the CCCC are
members of the
CCABC, too. This organization, headed up by
Wilson Wright, works to promote classic wooden
runabouts and cruisers, as well as classic
fiberglass. We encourage all CCCC members to join
this organization as well. Dues for the CCABC are
$25 annually.
Read a
personal letter to the club from Executive
Director of the CCABC, Wilson Wright.
What sort of items are available through the Club?
The "Archive Disk", or commonly
known as the Super Disk is the main attraction at the
present time. This is a comprehensive look back over
the incredible wealth of knowledge that has been
posted to our email forum, collected, sorted and
formatted for easy use on any PC. In the near
future, we will be providing quality items with the
club's logo such as t-shirts, mugs, and much, much
more at the Dock
Shop. |
