About the Chris Craft Commander Club

The CCCC is a unique club that started out as a pure online discussion forum and e-mail list in February year 2000. Today, the club sports more than 1400 members and has over 900 boats registered worldwide.

Over the years the CCCC extended it's activities to highly appreciated in-real-life gatherings once a year, several local meets, printed newsletters, merchandize and last but not least the invaluable Super Disk full of every aspect of owning and maintaining a Commander.

Naturally most members are from United States but there are also members from Australia, Sweden, Italy, France and Great Britain.

The CCCC is headed  by an Executive Committee, presently comprised of six members. The chair person, the Chief Commander, is elected by the members for a two year term. The rest of the committee members are chosen by the Executive Committee and hold their position until they choose to resign or a new person is elected by the Committee.

The members of the executive committee are presented here.

The complete bylaws governing the club is available for review here.

Our Mission

The Commander Club is a virtual club, existing on the Internet. The club is a non-stock corporation dedicated to the preservation, study and appreciation of the classic fiberglass Commander boats built by Chris Craft Corp. Our goal is to inform and enlighten owners or enthusiasts about these classic fiberglass boats. Members shall be Commander owners, enthusiasts or other persons who support the mission of the club.

Cornerstones of Success

The CCCC has expanded and prospered all the way since it's inauguration. The key success factors can be attributable to:

bullet Knowledgeable members
bullet Willingness to share
bullet No dues
bullet Focus on Commanders only
bullet Online environment

Knowledgeable members: The club are fortunate to have lots of knowledgeable members. Most are hobby enthusiasts who learned by doing, but we also have members who are in the boating trade. Some even worked for Chris Craft during the heyday of the Commanders.

Willingness to share: Knowledgeable members would mean nothing if they didn't share their know-how. No matter what question you have, there are plenty of members willing to help you out, promptly.

No dues: You can be a member without paying anything.

Focus on Commanders only: It is a way to keep up the interest and the commitment. Non-Commander topics are politely suppressed by the member community themselves. Only on rare occasions need the club webmaster step in and stop an off topic discussion.

Online environment: The Club would not have been possible without the internet. So much is dependent on the speed of getting answers and the ease of communicating 24/7, any place on earth.
